SECTION II. GUIDES BY ARTICLES OF DECISION 18

“Machinery and equipment” means individual machinery herein that has its own function.
So, in this guidebook, the "machinery and equipment" is called individual machinery where
                     necessary.

Sometimes that identifying the used machinery as the individual or the line cause confusion
for Enterprise. Generally, if it could be specified and named in the systems of HS code, the
machinery may be categorized as individual machinery. If a machine or equipment is

connected by a transportation system such as a conveyor or a hoist, etc., and operates in
order, the group of connected machines could be classified as a technological line.

G3.1 Individual Machinery and HS Code

To register as individual used machinery, Enterprise must be able to name having individual

function the machinery according to the HS code system.

However, it is important to note that when classifying the machinery as “not specified or
included elsewhere” due to the complexity of its function. In case that a multi-functional

process in one machine and a process has its own function, the machinery could be recog
nized and classified as a technological line. The representative HS code is 8479 “Machines
and mechanical appliances having individual functions, not specified or included elsewhere
in this Chapter”, and if the machinery belonging to 8479 performs a complex function

other than a single function, Enterprise should consult with Designated Inspection Body.

                       G3.2 Technological Line

When exporting their used machinery as a technological line, Enterprise should check first
whether the machinery is installed or interconnected on a fixed site to produce objects

with the synchronous operation. In the case that the machinery is not interconnected or
fixed on a site, Enterprise should export the machinery as individual one.

Technological lines can be divided into two categories: one is a type of multi-functions

operated in one machine, and the other is a type of more than two individual machines
interconnected. This guidebook categorizes the former as "Integrated Line,” and the latter
                       as “Assembling Line.”
