Annex V. Inspection Check List: Technological Line

Can the technological line only be started when a specific labelled

start device is used? (N.B. the normal cycle of automated technological line is
exempt from this requirement)

Is it impossible to start the technological line just by resetting a safety device?

Is there a readily accessible stop device (normal stop, operational stop,
emergency stop) which stops the technological line in a safe way?

Where appropriate is there a prominent easily accessible emergency stop device?

Does the technological line’s stop control have priority over the start controls?

The control or operating mode selected must override all other control
or operating modes, with the exception of the emergency stop.

In case of machinery designed to work together, the stop controls can stop
not only the machinery itself but also all related equipment?

Can controls be operated safely and easily, located outside the danger zones?

Is there any system of work which ensures that nobody is in a dangerous
position when technological line is about to be started?

Protective device is incorporated into the control system?

When a part of the technological line has been stopped, any drift away
from the stopping position must be prevented?

If the power is isolated does the technological line come to rest safely
without the possibility of access to dangerous parts?

Does the start device need to be activated to restart the technological line if:

- the power fails?
- a control or safety device fails to trip out?

Can the technological line be securely isolated from power, to prevent
inadvertent reconnection?

by removing a plug from a socket which is easily visible to the person at risk?

by locking it off?
