used machinery, equipment, and technological lines
III. Import Trend of Used Machinery, Equipment, And Technological Lines
Currently in Vietnam, the import of equipment, machinery and technological lines taking place
mainly in two ways:
1. The transfer of production from foreign countries into Vietnam, including the transfer of existing
technological lines to Vietnam through investment projects.
2. Importing equipment, machinery and technological lines through organizations and individuals
to serve production activities of organizations and individuals in Viet Nam.
The import depends on the actual needs of the economy. The current trend of importing used
machinery, equipment, and technological line is to be environmentally friendly, save energy,
have a level of technology suitable for Vietnam and ensure to produce good quality products.
Decision No. 1851 / QD-TTg dated December 27, 2018 by the Government approving the project
“Promoting technology transfer, ownership and development from abroad to Vietnam in priority
sectors and fields, the period up to 2025, with a vision to 2030”, has given priority and develop
ment to a number of sectors such as Information and Communication Technology, Industry,
Agriculture, Construction, Transport, and Health, Resources and environment; in which focus
on a number of fields: information technology industry, electronics industry; mechanical engi
neering; High-tech agriculture; preserving and processing agricultural, forestry and aquatic
products; construction technology, transportation, infrastructure;…
The import of used machinery, equipment, and technological line shall comply with the current
law of Vietnam, decided by organizations and individuals depending on the actual needs of their
production and business. In the current development era, the competition is fierce, so the quality
of the output product plays an important role in the competition. Organizations and individuals
are solely responsible for the importation of used machinery, equipment, and technological line
and calculate by themselves the economic efficiency as well as the compliance with the laws of
Vietnam. The Government of Vietnam always encourages, co-operates to develop the economy
in a sustainable manner.
IV. Some Practical Cases of Refusing to Import in Vietnam
Some reasons for refusal as follow:
The age of used machinery and equipment is not correct.
The actual production efficiency of the machine cannot be measured compared to the original design.
