<Culture Needs Equal> made by 김보석, 이아형 - 3 - Hello. First, we will present the theme. Analyzing cases of culture discrimination in the world. And “through that, we must respect the cultural diversity, and this kind of respect can achieve peace in the international world.” My name is 김보석, and I’m 이아형. Through the presentation of this poster, we will explore the various cases of discrimination in the era of globalization. This presentation was made for the public interest to inform that harmony and peace in the international world can be achieved by respecting and not discriminating against

diverse people and their cultures. The problem of cultural discrimination is the most chronic part of humanity. Although there have been various problems such as racism and language discrimination for a long time, discrimination against Asians has become especially serious recently. In fact, according to CNN's survey, experiencing discrimination against Asians visiting or residing in the United States revealed that about 370 out of 500 people, 74%, have experienced discrimination in relation to the Coronavirus. In addition, an American far-right website, Neocon said that the food traditionally

enjoyed by the Chinese is uncivilized and disgusting. They also said, “Our neocons will attack Chinese restaurants and civilize chunks of corona into our steaks.” This is leading to the discrimination of food culture in China, Asia. We felt this kind of problem and made posters. Circular photos show that cultural discrimination including languae, food and so on, just like previously cited CNN's case. Lastly, let's look at the baby’s face in the middle. He is crying now because the world we live in is stained with various cultural discrimination. Now we'll ask you a question. "Can you change

this baby's face to smile?" I'm sure you will say "yes." Even though you answer like that, you can't say that you have never discriminated against a different culture in your life. Let me give you an example. You may feel bad and discriminated against when Westerners say "Ni hao" to you at the first look. Then, how about yourself? "Hello" can be discrimination, just like you see Westerners and say casually. Maybe he is not the one who speaks English. As such, discrimination is something that can start with a little preconception or stereotype. Cultural discrimination, which began with people's

preconceptions, has reached a more serious level than ever before today when globalization is active. Through this poster, if we reflect on ourselves again and try not to discriminate, our planet will be a peaceful and harmonious place. That is the goal of our presentation today. The planet we live in is not decided. It's what we make. Thank you for listening. - 4 - <Local Consumption> made by 김의진, 서연수 - 5 - Hello, we are Kim Eui-jin and Seo Yeon-soo, who produced a poster for a public service advertisement under the theme of "Economy." First, let's watch a video about local consumption. We've

created an advertisement for the local economy, like traditional markets, which are in financial difficulties because of large markets. So, we have found negative aspects of this inactivity of the local economy. To improve this, we thought that the consumption of the local economy should be activated to improve the region's unique economy. In conclusion, we insist that consumers should spend money for the local economy. Next, I will explain about local consumption. Local consumption was initiated to revive local commercial districts, and local consumption refers to the consumption of locally

produced products by consumers living in the region to revive local commercial districts, such as weakening markets. When local commercial districts begin to revive, the region can benefit from the economy and tourism, therefore many local governments are encouraging and supporting local consumption. And it is actually having the effect of promoting local consumption. The representative example is the Mangwon market. The Mangwon market was able to supply cheap goods to one or two-person households and effectively generate local consumption. It was also reborn as a new cultural space with the

support of local governments, attracting many young people and foreigners. Thus, local consumption can benefit not only small business owners but also local governments and consumers. Many people are practicing local consumption because it can benefit from the economy, society and culture. Next, we will explain about the poster we made. In the poster you see now, the right side represents the traditional market representing the local economy, and the left side represents consumers who consume goods in the traditional market. The hands on the posters shaking hands tried to suggest that the

local economy could be revitalized by consumers spending money for small business owners and trying to provide better service. The biggest phrase on the poster is "local consumption: a necessity, not a choice." We thought it was not an option but a duty for consumers to spend on the local economy to revive the Korean economy. Local economic sites, including traditional markets, are suffering from the Corona crisis. Therefore, the government and the Busan Metropolitan Government are striving to revive the local economy by opening a win-win market to revitalize small and medium-sized enterprises

in the region. Looking at the case of Busan, we thought that consumers' consumption to revive the local economy is patriotism. So, the sub-title of the poster is 'The local explanation is patriotic in the Corona era.' The society in which we live today is suffering a lot from the Corona crisis, and we think promoting the local economy and spending has a big bearing on reviving the national economy. Why don't you join us in reviving the local economy? Consumption is no longer an option but a duty. I will finish the announcement of the local economy public service advertisement. - 6 - <The

Hidden Side of Biofuel> made by 김태희(3), 이나영 - 7 - Hi, our names are 이나영 and 김태희 and we’re going to introduce our public interest poster, which is about biofuels. Before getting started, let us watch the related video. The video was selected because it directly shows the relationship between biofuel use in developed countries and food problems in developing countries. In order to meet the growing demand for biofuels as more biodiesels are being used, the EU wants to get more crops for biofuels in Asia and Africa, which requires people there to grow only crops for biodiesel constantly. As the

demand for biofuels in developed countries increases, experts say, developing countries have less and less food to eat, ultimately causing starvation. The poster is intended to address the problem of biofuels, focusing on the issue of weakening food sovereignty in developing countries and how the rich countries are pillaging bio-grain production plants. Usually, biofuels are considered a new generation of energy that can solve environmental problems, but the reality is not as good as what it should have been. In many countries with rainforests, such as Mexico, Nigeria, and Indonesia, the area

of rain forests has been reduced by about 5 percent ever since they started growing grains for biodiesel. This threatens the lives of the natives, especially tribes living in the Amazon forest in Brazil. They are being pushed to the city after losing their rainforest. Not only in Brazil, but also many people in Africa are suffering from starvation caused by biofuels. The supply for existing crops is less valuable than that of sugarcane and corn that can produce biofuels, which forces farmers to only grow crops for biodiesels. This may bring instant economic benefits, but in the end, it will

result in food shortages, threatening developing countries' food sovereignty. Therefore, we made the poster to raise awareness about biofuels, in particular, how they are threatening the farmers in developing countries. We wrote the words on the poster in red, which is opposite to the usual green of biofuels, and added bloodstains to raise awareness and highlight the shortcomings of biofuels. And we placed the kid in front who does not have any food left to eat. The child is looking at the biofuel crops that he has raised, which are to be deprived from the rich countries. To express that

biofuel is less energy efficient than just consuming crops as they are, the oil container of biofuels which the large hand of the rich countries is taking away is significantly smaller than the amount of the crops presented in the below. Lastly, the poster phrase "Inedible biofuel" refers to the fact that the materials for biofuels - corns and grains, are originally edible as food but are used up as inedible biofuels, which ultimately leads to food shortages, threatening food sovereignty of developing countries and causing the hunger problem. Thank you for listening to our presentation. - 8 -

<International Tongues> made by 김태희(4), 지미소 - 9 - Hello, my name is Taehee (and my name is Miso) and we are going to present our public advertisement poster. We are here at Jeonnam Foreign Language High School in order to learn foreign languages. What is the reason for you to choose to come to this school? Why was learning a foreign language appealing to you? And how come language speaking skills became so important? That is because we are all living in a vast globalization era. We tried to show the importance of language education in achieving worldwide globalization. Since the 19th century,

diverse nations started linking together as neighborhoods and sharing their own cultures since the first advent of globalization. The global community is essential nowadays, as different nationalities are becoming more and more dependent on each other. Worldwide commerce, expansive tourism, improved medical/technical skills are all results of globalization, and these criteria are now indispensable parts of our lives. Therefore, we state that in order to promote this phenomenon, language education is highly necessary. The new era of the Planet requires multilingual global citizens as well as

bilinguals. This ability to communicate out loud with people from other nations will encourage the growth of worldwide integration and it will also provide monolingual people with the opportunity to come out to the world and take remarkable activities on the global stage. This poster shows a contrast between children trapped in a black compartment whose mouths are blocked and children above who speak various languages around the world, including English, Chinese, Spanish, and French, etc. Monolingual children, presented in the poster as the children with their mouth shut, dream of getting out

to the world, but they seem to be stu
