Hello, I am Park Seon-yu and Hwang Min-su from French department. Do you
know what is the most nutritious fruit in the world? As you may have guessed,
the answer is avocado from the video you saw. In South America, avocado is a
very popular food like Korean kimchi. Avocado has a high nutritional value and
a soft flavor and is called 'Butter of the Forest'. However, do you know the dark
side of avocado?

Avocados deprive the ground of nutrients and prevent other crops from growing
for at least a few years. Also, the amount of water that goes in to grow one
avocado is 320L. That is, to grow one avocado, we need 1600 of these bottles we
are holding. Because of the amount of enormous water that goes into growing
avocados, the land is deserted, as shown in the poster.

In the process of production, distribution, and ingestion, an avocado emits 420
grams of carbon dioxide. That's twice as much as a kilogram of bananas. Carbon
dioxide emitted by avocados has an adverse effect on fine dust and therefore, the
avocado became the main culprit of environmental pollution.

There is a bigger problem. In Mexico, the largest producer of avocados, cartels
are leading avocado farming. To be exact, farmers' arable land has been taken
away by cartels. ‘The green gold’ can be harvested at least 100 per tree. Each
orchard can earn about 600 million won a year, making it a solid source of income
for the cartels. In this process, they push for forests and draw water from nearby
farmers. Besides, the cartel took over labor from the avocado farm, so the human
rights issue is serious. The money earned in this way goes back into drug
distribution, causing social problems. The medicine and the gun you see on our
poster is to express it.

Not butter of the forest, But destroyer of the forest
This is our slogan on this avocado issue. Do you feel like you should refrain from
consuming avocados after listening to our presentation?
Just by avoiding avocado consumption, we can save the environment and our
children from labor exploitation. Let's avoid consumption of avocados and make
