Hello, my name is Taehee (and my name is Miso) and we are going to present our
public advertisement poster. We are here at Jeonnam Foreign Language High School
in order to learn foreign languages. What is the reason for you to choose to come to
this school? Why was learning a foreign language appealing to you? And how come
language speaking skills became so important? That is because we are all living in a
           vast globalization era.
We tried to show the importance of language education in achieving worldwide
globalization. Since the 19th century, diverse nations started linking together as
neighborhoods and sharing their own cultures since the first advent of globalization.
The global community is essential nowadays, as different nationalities are becoming
more and more dependent on each other. Worldwide commerce, expansive tourism,
improved medical/technical skills are all results of globalization, and these criteria
are now indispensable parts of our lives. Therefore, we state that in order to promote
this phenomenon, language education is highly necessary. The new era of the Planet
requires multilingual global citizens as well as bilinguals. This ability to communicate
out loud with people from other nations will encourage the growth of worldwide
integration and it will also provide monolingual people with the opportunity to come
out to the world and take remarkable activities on the global stage.
This poster shows a contrast between children trapped in a black compartment whose
mouths are blocked and children above who speak various languages around the
world, including English, Chinese, Spanish, and French, etc. Monolingual children,
presented in the poster as the children with their mouth shut, dream of getting out to
the world, but they seem to be stuck in the dark. And the slogan here, “Get children
out to the world”, implies the overall message the poster aims to convey. The poster
suggests the need for language education by showing a hand providing excluded
children with a “global mouth” so that they can speak various languages out in the
global field just like the children above.
The woman in this clip is talking about the close relationship between language
education and globalization. She says that in the 21st century, multilingual students
will be highly needed for global activities. The reason why we chose this video is that
this interview perfectly fits our purpose of this project; multi-language speaking skills
are necessary in order not to be isolated from globalization.
So far, we will finish the public service announcement on the need for language
education. Thank you so much for listening.
