Hello, we are Kim Eui-jin and Seo Yeon-soo, who produced a poster for a public service
advertisement under the theme of "Economy."
First, let's watch a video about local consumption. We've created an advertisement for the local
economy, like traditional markets, which are in financial difficulties because of large markets.
So, we have found negative aspects of this inactivity of the local economy. To improve this, we
thought that the consumption of the local economy should be activated to improve the region's
unique economy. In conclusion, we insist that consumers should spend money for the local
economy. Next, I will explain about local consumption. Local consumption was initiated to
revive local commercial districts, and local consumption refers to the consumption of locally
produced products by consumers living in the region to revive local commercial districts, such
as weakening markets. When local commercial districts begin to revive, the region can benefit
from the economy and tourism, therefore many local governments are encouraging and
supporting local consumption. And it is actually having the effect of promoting local
consumption. The representative example is the Mangwon market. The Mangwon market was
able to supply cheap goods to one or two-person households and effectively generate local
consumption. It was also reborn as a new cultural space with the support of local governments,
attracting many young people and foreigners. Thus, local consumption can benefit not only
small business owners but also local governments and consumers. Many people are practicing
local consumption because it can benefit from the economy, society and culture. Next, we will
explain about the poster we made.
In the poster you see now, the right side represents the traditional market representing the local
economy, and the left side represents consumers who consume goods in the traditional market.
The hands on the posters shaking hands tried to suggest that the local economy could be
revitalized by consumers spending money for small business owners and trying to provide better
service. The biggest phrase on the poster is "local consumption: a necessity, not a choice." We
thought it was not an option but a duty for consumers to spend on the local economy to revive
the Korean economy. Local economic sites, including traditional markets, are suffering from
the Corona crisis. Therefore, the government and the Busan Metropolitan Government are
striving to revive the local economy by opening a win-win market to revitalize small and
medium-sized enterprises in the region. Looking at the case of Busan, we thought that
consumers' consumption to revive the local economy is patriotism. So, the sub-title of the poster
is 'The local explanation is patriotic in the Corona era.' The society in which we live today is
suffering a lot from the Corona crisis, and we think promoting the local economy and spending
has a big bearing on reviving the national economy. Why don't you join us in reviving the local
economy? Consumption is no longer an option but a duty.
