“THERE’S SOMETHING MISSING IN HERE,” mused one
customer on her first visit to Saks & Hart. Before owner Nicole
Graham could mentally take stock, the customer added with a
grin: “My bed!”
A desire to make yourself at home in the Ayrshire country-
living boutique is perfectly understandable. Based in Dalgarven
Mill in Kilwinning, the rural surroundings and original features
of the characterful building provide a fitting backdrop to Nicole’s
traditional, curated collections, inspired by nature, travel and her
struggle to source period pieces for her own home. The rustic,
riverside setting is just another selling point.
Pop in for Voyage fabrics, Coach House furniture and
exclusive Lene Bjerre finds, as well as chalk paint classes hosted
by Nicole, who teaches distressing, waxing and stencilling
techniques. There are plans to expand the shop’s own line of
aromatherapy candles with a series of room scents and diffusers.
Anything that bottles the spirit of Saks & Hart? We’re sold.
