THE KILN ROOMS
Calling all would-be potters to The Kiln Rooms, a new open-access
ceramics studio set up by ceramicist Stuart Carey in a former warehouse
in Peckham Rye, London. Stuart offers a 12-week beginners’ course, for
£260, on which you will learn the skills of hand-building, mould work,
throwing, decorating and glazing. You can also become a member for
£150 a month, allowing 18 hours in the studio each week and access to a
professional development programme, including artists’ talks, portfolio and

Grain event Fans of wooden kitchens will rejoice
at the Sebastian Cox kitchen, a collaboration between the

Using sustainable British wood and traditional craftsmanship,
the kitchen, from £10,000, is made from birch, ash and oak,
with copper hardware. An inky blue-black stain, as shown on
this free-standing cabinet, allows the timber’s natural texture
to show through, creating a simple, tactile fnish.
