RURAL ESCAPE
If you can bear to leave the Pavilion, Coldingham Sands might be as far as you get. The
bay is open and rugged and, regardless of the weather conditions, is a truly impressive
corner of Scotland. St Veda’s Surf School is within walking distance and has a busy
presence on the beach. If you’re looking to eat out, the village of Eyemouth is a ten-
minute drive away, with family-friendly bistro Oblo conveniently located next to the
award-winning ice-cream parlour Giacopazzi’s. Here, you can sit at the harbour and
watch the seals chase the fishing boats. If you’re looking to venture further afield, North
Berwick is a buzzy, pretty tourist town. Herringbone, a pub and restaurant, is a worth a
visit, and head to Time & Tide for homewares.
