The dressing room between the master bedroom and its bathroom
was designed and built by local firm Sculleries of Stockbridge,
who added illuminated display shelves for favourite pieces
deliciously inviting silver velvet sofa, is thoroughly practical: there is built-in storage underneath and
behind the cushions, and the arm-rests can be lifted out to accommodate even more friends and guests.
And the whole house is wired for sound, thanks to a Sonos system fitted by James Morrow.
Siobhan’s task of giving the house personality has been achieved without the need to make grand
statements – there’s no bling here. Instead, each room looks and feels subtly different from the next,
but with a tangible sense of flow, thanks to the colours and materials chosen. A duck-egg blue recurs
throughout, for example, woven into the stair carpet and picked up in wallpapers and textiles.
And the shabby-chic dilemma? It has been resolved to the satisfaction of all parties, as tastes grew
and changed: “At one point, later on in the project,” recalls Siobhan, “Jason said to me, ‘Just try and
find things you think I’d like.’ This sums up one of the best aspects – and biggest challenges – of this
job: getting into people’s heads and figuring out not just what they already like but what they don’t yet
realise they’ll love.”
